The Beastie Boys: The Sounds of Science
After such packed, inventive albums as Hello Nasty and Paul's Boutique, it's not surprising that the Beastie Boys' career retrospective is special in itself. The two CDs of The Sounds of Science are filled with not just the hits but loads of fun rarities and a handful of new tracks.
Duke Ellington: The Reprise Studio Recordings [Box Set]
After severing his ties with Columbia in 1962, Duke Ellington signed on with Reprise, a fledgling label run by Frank Sinatra. Though the relationship lasted only two and a half years, Duke recorded enough music to fill nine albums. Included in this output are important titles like Afro Bossa , The Symphonic Ellington and Ellington '65 (all currently out of print). Collected in three double CDs, Duke Ellington: The Reprise Studio Recordings is both a wonderfully comprehensive document and a great way to fill out the Ellington wing of your music library.
John Digweed: Bedrock
John Digweed cannot be stopped; whether going solo, remixing other's tracks or making music with partner Sasha, John Digweed consistently releases heaping portions of ecstatic trance music and progressive house. His new 2-CD set Bedrock is a must for trance fans, with lovingly crafted segues, brilliantly sustained highs, and effortless sections where the notes just seem to float in the air in front of the listener.
